FAQs

What is Pet Cremation?

Your pet is gently placed into our cremation chamber. After your pet’s cremation is complete, your pet’s cremains are processed into a powder in our pet cremation processor then carefully placed and sealed in a plastic bag. We then place your pet’s cremains into an upgraded urn or an urn of your choice.

How can I be assured my pet is cremated alone?

As long as this is set up ahead of time, we allow pet owners to stand from a safe distance outside the room that performs cremations at our facility.  From there, you can watch your pet go into the crematory, fully alone.  With your own eyes you can verify it’s just your pet. We also have a viewing room. You can witness the cremation process to guarantee your pet is solely alone in the crematory.

Do funeral homes offer pet cremation services?

There are some funeral homes that offer pet cremation services, but not many. Strict regulations prohibit cremating animals and humans using the same equipment, so a funeral home that offers pet cremation will have invested in separate equipment.

Is my pet cremated with any other pets?

Only if a communal cremation is selected. This is where additional pets are cremated together and remains are not returned.

My pet passed away at the veterinarian’s office. Can I select where my pet is cremated?

Yes. Chances are that we may work with your veterinarian already. But if we don’t, you’re welcome to forward the contact number to your vet’s office and we’ll handle the rest.

How can I know if an urn I’m interested in buying is large enough for my pet?

The industry rule of thumb is that you will need one cubic inch of urn volume for each pound your pet weighs prior to cremation.

That said, the cremation of a ten pound cat could result in a higher volume of cremated remains than a twenty pound dog. It all depends on bone structure.

To be absolutely certain, consider waiting until you have your pet’s cremated remains. Paw to Paw Pet Cremation is happy to provide the actual volume measurement for you.
